Not Quite: Asian American by Law, Asian Woman by Desire
Not Quite:
Asian American by Law, Asian Woman by Desire
In this solo, Ada uses personal stories, monologues, and characters to explore her journey as an immigrant woman from East Asia.
Stories center around the intersection of race, immigration, gender, and sexuality. Ada uses “not quite” to connect three main themes: meanings of home, the fractured yet intersectional nature of Asian American identity, and the perils of living under Trump for immigrant women of color like her.
Ada intends for this show to be an intervention and a challenge to current politics. This is one of the ways she resists and protests as an artist-storyteller-scholar.
Originally produced by Three Cats Productions as part of SOLO CHICAGO
