The Latest: The Letter – A Short Film Directed by Alexis Park with Script by Ada Cheng
November 7, 2021
“My goodness. This is finally happening.
My first ten minute play The Letter was made into a short film to support a fundraiser and a campaign on mental health awareness.
I usually do solo work. This is the first time I wrote a play with characters and dialogues. I am so looking forward to seeing the final product.
The Letter explores mental health issues within the Asian American community, particularly around the taboo and silence.
I want to thank @recoverme.sd and Alexis Park for her work. She has impressed me every step of the way, asking questions about casting, accent, and about directing a film about Asian American experiences. She has absolutely been thoughtful, reflective and respectful. I enjoy working with this crew so much.
If you are in LA, please consider attending the event on November 21 and supporting their work. Please also check out their event in New York on the 19th if you are East Coast.
I am so grateful!” — Ada Cheng (Instagram November 7, 2021)
